At JGS we offer courses teaching Scriptwriting & Directing

Scriptwriter’s Lab

The scriptwriting lab teaches the essential skills of writing a script for film, series, television and theatre. The course covers thematic storytelling. Participants learn how to craft scripts that have well constructed plots, challenging conflicts, rich settings and highly developed characters. Participants write their own script during the lab. Participants who already have a story or script and would like to further develop their material also have the chance to refashion their story.

Director’s Workshop

The Directing Workshop is designed to introduce students to the role and purpose of the director. The workshop enables students to posses a full vocabulary of how to realise their full artistic vision. Students learn about narrative structure, aesthetics, how to work with actors and the technical facets of creating a project. The practical portion of the course allows participants to work on a professional production albeit theatre or short film at the studio.
